Focusrite grew out of a 1985 request from Beatles producer Sir George Martin to well-known-pro-audio designer Rupert Neve. He was asked to design a series of no-compromise modules, beginning with a microphone preamplifier and equaliser, for Air Studios in Montserrat and then in London.
Phil Dudderidge took over in 1989 and Focusrite has continued to grow ever since. The most recent offering is the RedNet range of Ethernet audio interfaces. They incorporate Dante's digital audio networking system and are suited for almost any application, from studio to education to live sound.
